This LP-length CD reissue from 1997 features pianist Andre Previn and an unidentified rhythm section (probably bassist Buddy Clark and drummer Shelly Manne) performing eight Fats Waller songs and Previn's likable "Fatstuff." The pianist, whose style by the mid-1950s was much closer to Dave Brubeck than to Waller, sounds fairly modern on such tunes as "Ain't Misbehavin'," "Honeysuckle Rose" and "Black and Blue," but shows respect for the melodies. The music swings competently in a West Coast jazz fashion, and Previn's solos are quite spontaneous.
