There are only a few select artists whose music I actively seek out and monitor. Foley Room, genius, that's all, go listen... :) "There's nothing new about field recordings of course. It's obviously been the traditional source material in sampling since the early days, so I'm really going "back to school" on this one. On the other hand, I always saw a divide between music that was based purely on sound design and tunes that were written to physically move people. A challenge for me has been to try and make 'tunes' using aspects of sound design normal... MORE

My most listened to Artist of the last 7 years has to be Amon Tobin. For some reason I can listen to him over and over, unlike SquarePusher or Aphex Twin who I enjoy but I can't listen to them that much. I lost interest a bit after Verbal came out, but this new Bloodstone EP is righteous. 1st: The song Bloodstone is Tobin vs Kronos Quartet. When I feel the inclination to hear some music with truly masterful beat programming, and want to bolster my inferiority complex as a musician, I throw on an Amon Tobin album. I first ran into Tobin's music in the same album that eventually led to my infatuation with the Herbaliser, the Ninjatune compilation, "Funkungfusion".
