After being pretty much disturbed with the state of our world right now (as usual), I forgot that I am going to see Alice Smith perform in New York City. Her voice is full of the blues and soul. You can feel her pain and her hurt through her music. She looks like a college student although she is not. But, she is a graduate of Fordham University. She is originally from Washington, DC but New Yor...
I am still listening, and looking at as many posts, and blogs as possible. I find that I am a mouse, in a community of mammoths. Loving, and learning whats all the hype. It is all that, n then some. Alice Smith, The lover, Dreamers, and Me. Better late than never, give her a listen.

Similar to Amy Winehouse but a bit bluesy kinda. I don't know if that's an accurate description but she's another one with a kinda soulful sound to her. Definitely worth a listen. Maybe even a legitimate download via iTunes not Limewire people! Or you can go to her myspace and get some tracks for free... www.myspace.com/alicesmith♥
What follows is my review of Alice Smith's debut album. And yeah, it might not look like much of a review, but I should clarify that I have this reaction maybe two or three times a year, tops.THE REVIEW, in its entirety:Holy shit, this is fantastic and everyone should buy it.

There's no auto-tuning on this record. No bullshit either. As far pop records go, you probably won't find a more soulful, folky and funky set of songs this year. Alice Smith has a classic voice, a voice like Aretha, Sade, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Etta James - distinct, rich and warm with a huge range and amazing control. Stylistically, Smith slides between genres, seemlessly schoomozing betw...
Hey folks, The record store is launching it's podcast this week, so I thought I'd send it out to the Mog-o-sphere for some constructive criticism. We'll have the lo-tek mp3 ready for the "official release" on tuesday. Tell me what you think. The spiel:"Grand Palace Records is proud to announce the launch of the Grand Palace Podcast, a weekly adventure into the world of new music. Hosted by DJ Ba...
