I've been on a sixties soul kick for a while and I thought how it's too bad the few singers who are still alive rarely seem to play Chicago. Thanks to Dennis I was reminded that there are still young singers who can throw down some deep soul that'll rock a house, especially a small cozy room like Schuba's. A lot of people probably OD'd on British soul from Amy Winehouse, Adele and Duffy, largel...

When Annie Lenoxx first started putting our SOUL-O efforts I was really impressed. She had that one of a kind voice that really could make yah melt.Alice Russell so much reminds me of Annie, maybe that's good, maybe bad. But I like the way this girl sings. This track has some great backup vocals as well. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Alice Russell predates Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Duffy, but comparsions to younger white, British neo-soul types is unavoidable. This is a pretty good tonic for those of us waiting for Amy to clean up. The whole album is pretty good.
