I'm posting this for my sister. As she says' "It's mellow stuff, but a tender listen"Alexi Murdoch is a London-born, Scottish-bred, singer-songwriter. He went to the U.S. to study philosophy at Duke University. His self-published EP, Four Songs, was released in 2003, becoming the all time No. 1 selling record in CD Baby history. Murdoch's first album, Time Without Consequence, was released on Ju...
Whenever I hear the music of the unquestionably talented U.K. singer-songwriter Alexi Murdoch, I wonder if you can copyright a style. I don't think you can, but if you could, the estate of the late, beloved musician Nick Drake might have a case against Murdoch.I used to feel that John Martyn, one of Drake's contemporaries in the early '70s, hewed a little too close to Drake's idiosyncratic soun...
SO says the MOGBadassador LGE ;) It's time kiddies. An old favorite song I've had on my playlists since 2004. I have searched for a good video for ages and now after giving up, this one popped up tonight.. enjoy!!
As I sat in the movie theater tonight watching "Away We Go" I couldn't help but to make note of the soundtrack. It had my sound. The voice sounded familiar, but the actual songs weren't making a connection. And they wouldn't have, as I realized about 15 minutes ago that the majority of the soundtrack is from Alexi Murdoch's time without consequences album. I've download...
...I've been paying (not with actual cold hard cash) closer attention to music in movies, not so much the score or the soundtrack per say, but the music that plays in the movie. The end credits is a great place to track down those songs. A great example is the film, "Gone Baby Gone". Affleck directs, produces, acts, etc. in it. Well, Nic Harcourt was the music supervisor and when I realized...
don't you love it when you're shuffling through your music on itunes and stumble across stuff that has been on there for ages and you get a feeling of rediscovery? i've had a number of Alexi Murdoch's songs in my library for some time but haven't listened to any of it for a while now. today i felt like playing every single track back.i'm so happy i did. :)
i'm getting back to my relaxation musical mood... lol i go through phases where i listen to hard (or classic) rock day and night... then a couple months later i'll switch to folk music, then jazz, then alternative, then 90's... and occasionally i'll have a weekend where i listen to hip hop/rap.... as of now im listening to my Garden State Soundtrack, Alexi Murdoch, Nick Drake, Damien Rice to name
Ever had a dream come true that you didn't plan on having come true at all? Was it better for you to play out the reality in your head than actually have it happen?A question for a Friday night.I leave you with Alexi Murdoch's "Song for You".
"And I had a dreamI stood beneath an orange skyWith my sister standing byWith my sister standing byI said Sister, here is what I know nowHere is what I know nowGoes like this..In your love, my salvation liesIn your love, my salvation liesIn your love, my salvation liesIn your love, in your love, in your love"I love this song. It's beautiful. Listen!
One of the nicest things about MOG is of course the recommendations for music that I get on this site. It is the first principle in my opinion and it is why I come back time and time again. I scour my trusted MOGS and those of them to see what I can learn. Sometimes it is right on the money, sometimes not, but I always feel better for the knowledge. One of my trusted music friends turned me o...
If you're a fan of Nick Drake or simply enjoy well-written and -performed contemporary folk, this CD is highly recommended. Alexi Murdoch composes some terrific melodies, but his performance is what sets him apart. He sings quietly and intimately, and his spare arrangements make the music sound that much more personal and soothing. Great for quiet moments in life.
