don't you love it when you're shuffling through your music on itunes and stumble across stuff that has been on there for ages and you get a feeling of rediscovery? i've had a number of Alexi Murdoch's songs in my library for some time but haven't listened to any of it for a while now. today i felt like playing every single track back.

...I've been paying (not with actual cold hard cash) closer attention to music in movies, not so much the score or the soundtrack per say, but the music that plays in the movie. The end credits is a great place to track down those songs. A great example is the film, "Gone Baby Gone". Affleck directs, produces, acts, etc. in it. Well, Nic Harcourt was the music supervisor and when I realized that I really dug the end credit song, I 8x it to the song rundown and discovered ... MORE

i'm getting back to my relaxation musical mood... lol i go through phases where i listen to hard (or classic) rock day and night... then a couple months later i'll switch to folk music, then jazz, then alternative, then 90's... and occasionally i'll have a weekend where i listen to hip hop/rap....
as of now im listening to my Garden State Soundtrack, Alexi Murdoch, Nick Drake, Damien Rice to name a few... any other suggestions of singer song writers like these guys?

One of the nicest things about MOG is of course the recommendations for music that I get on this site. It is the first principle in my opinion and it is why I come back time and time again. If you're a fan of Nick Drake or simply enjoy well-written and -performed contemporary folk, this CD is highly recommended. Alexi Murdoch composes some terrific melodies, but his performance is what sets him apart. He sings quietly and intimately, and his spare arrangements make the music sound that much more personal and soothing. Great for quiet moments in life.... MORE
