While panning for gold over on emusic the other night, I happened up one of Mr. Escovedo's albums, _A Man Under the Influence_ (released in 2001). I'd never heard of him before, but his sound definitely made me sit up and take notice. Some of the songs are slower, acoustic ballads (oftentimes backed by strings), most of them dealing with the damage of love. Others are gutsy rockers, fusing acoustic and electric guitars.
