This Cd by Alceu Valença brings the singer/composer in excellent shape. The 2000 trend of new-forró in Brazil, for one side brought a terrible electronic pop commercial dilution of the exciting northeastern groves, but, on the other hand, it made possible faithful acoustic renditions with traditional instrumental/choir (and some fuzzed-out guitars) such as this fully danceable and enjoyable album. In the best tradition of the cocos of Jackson do Pandeiro, of the baiőes of Luiz Gonzaga, of the forrós de Olinda, Alceu exposes all the happiness of being sincere to his own heart, singing passionately classic composers and tunes together with his own inspired songs.
