All Music GuideThis is a compilation of the highly successful northeastern artist Alceu Valença's 1980 albums. It has only two hits, "Girassol" (from Leque Moleque, 1987) and "Estaçăo Da Luz" (from Estaçăo Da Luz, 1985). "Bobo Da Corte," "Romance Da Bela Inęs," "Maria Sente," "Marim Dos Caetés," "Perfídia," "Roda E Avisa," and "Oropa, França E Bahia" (the latter, a poem by Ascenso Ferreira for which Valença wrote the music) were taken from the live album Oropa, França E Bahia (1988). "Me Segura Senăo Eu Caio" and "Senhora Dona" are from Rubi, 1986.
Alceu Valença performs a creative fusion of northeastern grooves with pop rhythms, and his lyrics are also meaningful and frequently iconoclastic.
