Akon has freely and openly discussed his criminal past with reporters when asked. The singer says he ran an elaborate car theft operation which soon landed him in jail. Ahh.... controversy in an Akon concert, the familiarity gives me the comfort of mama's home cookin'. The only difference in this case was that Akon was not at fault for the disturbance. A free performance in Copenhagen erupted in violence after police cut the performance short due to safety concerns. Sporting a swanky yellow tux and silver tie, Akon turned himself in to police on Monday for charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment, after he threw a young fan off his stage at a New York concert last June. Akon, who is nominated for four 2008 Grammys, pleaded "not guilty" and released a statement saying he "deeply regrets" the incident (so much he wrote a song about it.) Akon has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor criminal charges for throwing a teenage boy off stage during a performance in Fishkill, New York. The kid Akon tossed landed on a fan named Abby Rosa, who suffered a concussion as a result.
"It was never Akon's intention to violate the law," Akon’s manager Benjamin Brafman said in a written statement. "This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."

We all knew this was coming as soon as the video surfaced many months ago. Remember when Akon threw a kid off the stage for throwing objects during a concert? Yeah... that's come back to haunt him. Akon recently revealed he's worked with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Madonna on their new albums. From the "kinda-sorta interesting" files:Jennifer Lopez released a new video for Do It Well, which is normally not very intriguing. This video however is pretty odd, maybe theres some artsy fartsy meaning behind it, but I took it at face value. Theres some obese S&M going on, little kids locked in rooms, and some guy locked in an oversized mousetrap while beating beaten. It's really quite funny. Akon plans to re-release his last album Konvicted on August 28th of this month, the package will include a DVD as well as three new songs. One of the new cuts is 'Sorry, Blame It On Me', which is an open apology for the controversy that followed the singer in 2007.
