Damn good album. Reminds me a lot of the instrumentally-driven bands Pelican, Do Make Say Think, Red Sparowes, Isis, Sunn O))), and others. Hardcore Agalloch fans will scoff, but I think The Mantle was a masterpiece and though Ashes Against the Grain is outstanding, it doesn't hit me the same way. Definitely much more experimental.

Without a freaking doubt, Agalloch is my favorite band right now. Much like the effect "Americana," The Offspring album from my youth, had on me, I can listen to these songs by Agalloch over and over again without getting tired of it. Their style ranges from post-rock to doom, death, and dark metal, with roots always in the dark metal realm. I love the folk influences, as well as the unique ...
