On Thursday I had another sweltering day of summer school. I say sweltering because the temperatures here in Minnesota are nearing the mid 90's and the school I am teaching at has no air conditioning what so ever. By the time the kids arrive at 8:30 in the morning I usually have a good sweat going, and the sun has not even really come up yet. I'm hella excited for them to be comming to a town near me. In March they will be playing with Serg Tankian and the Foo Fighters at a show in San Diego. Should be amazing of course. Though I'm not a big fan of Serg or the Foo Fighters, but should be good nonetheless. Anyone else going to a show on this tour?

For the longest time I've been drooling over videos of live footage from Against Me! shows. I've been a listener of their music since the end of my freshman year in high school. It has to be their honesty and understanding of everything wrong about America and the world. Plus they just sound so badass and catchy. Well the Foo Fighters & Against Me! announced their upcoming tour dates together. Weird + strange but true? Yes Mary, I get it. AM! is becoming big panties and the Foo's are gonna look a little wimpy following them. Ah shucks, even I would go see it, just to see the event. So I missed a chance to go see Against Me! It was kind of saddening. I bought tickets to go, and then circumstances changed and I wasn't able to go.I don't know much about Against Me! but I've taken quite a liking to them in the past few months. Call it jumping on the bandwagon, call it what you will, but I'm not always on the top of the music scene. Just when I thought that Against Me! had made their "swan song" with _Searching for a Former Clarity_ they put out an album that defies sub-genres in rock (Tom Gabel is sick of you calling him "punk") and makes bold statements about...well...everything! I think more than anything they pose the serious question of "Are you restless like me" in the track "Up the Cuts." However, they serve up songs about what life could have been like on "Ocean," what can be easily destroyed ... MORE

After months of waiting I finally got my hands on the new Against Me! album, and needless to say it blew me away. I will have to write an review on it, but right now I am enjoying listening to it for the first time. Its like nothing they have ever put out, and by far the best album I have heard this year. Nothing like an early birthday present for me, gotta say thanks to the boys of Against Me! I will now post my favorite song off the album, its about summer romance and... MORE
