Sugar and spice and all things nice, that’s what Adele is made of. And let’s be honest, in a world where the music industry’s leading magazine, Rollingstone, puts MTV The Hills’ fake-baked girls on their cover (while Queen’s Reunion and The Stone Temple Pilots rest in small print on the side), the 20-year-old Brit soul singer Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is refreshing. I was excited to inter
Adele - Chasing PavementsJanuary 2008 sees the release of 'Chasing Pavements' Adele's second single, which will be released on XL.This is what she say's about her debut album '19' coming out next year;“The whole album is about being between 18 and 19; about love,” she continues. “‘Daydreamer’ is about this boy I was in love with, like proper in love with. He was bi and I couldn’t deal
I feel like I need to add some cheer to this place after that last post. So here is the brand new video from Adele! The song is "Cold Shoulder" and the icy blue video creates a stark contrast to the warmth in Adele's voice:She may not be the bad girl Amy is, but that voice! Yeeeow! I also adore the bare drum breaks that accompany her words. A scrumptious song.
To be honest not a fan of Sam Sparro or the song Black and Gold...been played to death here over the last months...But I do really like Adele's take on it...Here is Adele live from her house on Radio 1 Live Lounge tour (day 1). The clip is a collage of photos taken that day.
HomeTown Glory (Audio Only)Adele (Adkins) admits she could be more prolific; she had only written four songs when she started gigging, and among her fans she is already notorious for refusing to add to that number. But what songs - her aching paean to London, 'Hometown Glory', in particular - and it was quality not quantity that led XL to sign her last year. Her influences are; Jill Scott, Amy ...
[By the way, I was unaware that Boyz II Men had an album that was nominated! I had no clue they had an album out : / Lord! 2 nominations! Where have I been?] For almost 2 years I used twitter and blogged on almost every aspect of my life.On January 26 which happened to be my 35th birthday, I said I needed to stop the insanity. To me micro blogging was too much and to try to follow the 1000 plus...
This was one of those songs I never noticed until my wife pointed out to me the utter nonsensical nature of the lyrics. Chasing Pavements? What does this mean? Is she going to be a Steven Malkmus stalker? Was she a groupie who decided to jump on the neo-soul/R&B English girl thing like Duffy and Amy Winehouse? The video has no answers, other than using a motorway wreck as a motif: Meanwhile,...
I found out last night that Adele is playing Joe's Pub next week and of course its already sold out(Doesn't help that the venue is the size of my apartment and the bulk of the seats are going to the music depts at MTV and VH1)Hopefully she'll swing back around very soon at a slightly larger venue.
I wound up scoring a ticket from craigslist(THANKS) so I got to see her play 'acoustic' or stripped down as she called it with just a guitarist and keyboard player. She said she had a cold and was probably going to be a little wobbly, I thought she sounded great. I preferred the simple arrangements to some of the produced numbers on the album. Its a very pure sound that you can forgive some of ...
It can't be easy when you're hailed as the new someone-who's-still-around. It bugs me as a listener - The View were the new Kooks who were the new Arctic Monkeys, all before the Monkeys had a second album out. And is 'the new Winehouse' really a compliment?Adele doesn't seem to mind, though presumably because the comparison is more to do with musical styles than an accusation of being volatile...
TOO MUCH SNOW! Oh, I know that those of you more northernly folk are laughing at me, but we got dumped on! And my puppy coldn't be happier or friskier, when all I want to do is hibernate. How could she turn on me like that? I am sure this song has been posted before because Adele is just so good, but here it is again!

Well, this week is up. I hope you guys enjoyed the stuff I was posting as much as I did. I tried to pick what I thought you all would like most, and this song is no exception.*Adele* has been touted as one of the "Next Big Things" for this year. Specifically, the next Amy Winehouse, as both share the same penchant for old-school soul. But please don't let that throw you off, she has a beaut...
