Délivrance is no Gogol Bordello Balkan pastiche, nor does it deserve to get lumped into the category of 'world music'. Rather, it's a remarkable fusion, the sound of a band living and breathing a musical culture far removed from their own.

The Beachland Tavern was pretty packed last night, especially considering it was a Monday. I’ll admit being surprised by this, particularly in light of the disagreement I’d had with another friend the day before about how attendance for last night’s A Hawk and a Hacksaw show would be. She said it would be busy, I [...]

Fresh from the release of their new album Deliverance (which we loved, SG Review HERE) the band have gone and created a bunch of videos for the respective tracks off of the LP. Filmed entirely in their home state of New Mexico by friend and director John Longmire, the videos are just plain awesome in every sense of the word and recommended to each and every one of you, regardless of your stance...

You may be familiar with Jeremy Barnes, but indirectly. Think Beirut and Neutral Milk Hotel. Several years ago he moved to Europe to record as A Hawk and a Hacksaw with Heather Trost. The band also re...

Their third album The Way The Wind Blows was released back in 2006 and now, three years later the duo are back with a new record, new single and new tour.

Despite what The Minutemen say (the vigilantes, not the band), we're all immigrants here. For some, the need for outside input is superficial, while others yearn to expatriate themselves and experience the world far from America. I don't think I'm jumping the gun to say that A Hawk And A Hacksaw fall into the latter camp. Dlivrance, their new album on The Leaf Label, finds the duo of ex-E6er Je...

I once helped to put on a couple of shows with A Hawk and a Hacksaw. I travelled all over the county putting up posters. On my travels I found a trendy beach bar in a sleepy village. I went up to the barman and asked if I could put one up, he directed me to "the owner", a portly, red-faced Oliver Reed character.
