    Jettisoning the raw, chilling abandon of their earlier work, Force instead layers A Certain Ratio's hybrid of pop, jazz and funk with shimmering keyboards and guitars. The resulting sound is one that's well-executed and consistent, albeit lacking in potency and spontaneity; the most interesting moments are the most experimental, like the backwards bass on "Bootsy" and the strange drones on "Take Me Down."
