AC/DC's song Highway To Hell is becoming one of the mot requested funeral songs in their home country, according to the the Telegraph. Funeral managers at Centennial Park, the largest cemetery and crematorium in the city, said only two hymns still rank among its top 10 most popular funeral songs: Amazing Grace and Abide With Me. Leading the funeral chart is crooner Frank Sinatra's classic hit My Way followed by Louis Armstrong's version ofWonderful World. The Led Zepp... MORE
Total Guitar Magazine voted this the worst cover version ever and watching it makes me long for a Karaoke Bar full of drunken lonesome types where that activity is the highlight of their week.

Columbia Music only likes Wal-Mart-shopping-Americans. Columbia announced this week that the new AC/DC album, the band's first since 2000, will be exclusively available from Wal-Mart stores in the US. Of course, this may be the band's decision, as they have been highly resistant to adopting the online music distro models that are so popular today. AC/DC music still cannot be purchased on iTunes or from any other digital retailer. Verizon Wireless had a temporary deal w... MORE
Love him or hate him, sometimes Bob Lefsetz nails the point. Will probably never happen. Chances are, even if you're supporting yourself playing music and have a hard core fan base, most people in your neighborhood will have no idea who you are. Used to be there were markers. Getting signed. Hearing your song on the radio. Going to #1 on SoundScan. All those things can still happen, it's just their significance is ever-smaller. You can achieve ALL of the above t... MORE

All this banter between me and a few other moggers about the prevalence of Metal over the years and different Tags has LED me to believe that I only categorize music by Rock, Metal, Rap, Country, or OTHER->
So for all those who were chatting with me today, maybe we can all agree that this song FECKIN ROCKS!!!!!
Come on MOG preachers, can I get an AMEN!!!

OK, so I had to read this book for work but I am glad I did. I have dug AC/DC for 25 years or more at this point. This book is fairly uncritical in terms of how it deals with the band members and the music, but what it lacks in objectivity is made up for in the access the authors had to the band and the many people around it over the years. Reading about Bon Scott alone makes you realize that the guy could never have been anything other than a rock god! 488 pages of AC... MORE
