I had the good fortune to be record shopping in L.A. recently. My mates and I hit Amoeba in Hollywood and Dr. Freecloud's in Fountain Valley. I must say, that is a great combination for crate diggers/vinyl junkies like myself! Ok people, let's hear some arp riffs tomorrow!
I also had an idea for a other-worldly dub day when people post the most exotic scaryy echo-ey dub chamber sounds they can.
Am I being too micro genre intensive, or do some people want to meet me at the Mog?

...I was looking for a video for 808 State's "Moses" and I stumbled on this jam from an EP that dropped back in the 90s instead...the euro mix of a pretty phat track that's right in the pocket when you're editing bits 'n bytes...keep your hands away from the stylus, you tosser...just listen...it's a jam...

London, once again, rules supreme with the unbelievable dance parties. One of the first electronic music outfits I ever listened to, who began my love affair with UK electronica in the form of Orb, Orbital, Eat Static etc., was the legendary 808 State. The founding members of the acid techno band - Gerald 'A Guy Called Gerald' Simpson and Graham Massey - have not played live together since 1989, but on Saturday October 6th, they will perform on the original analogue hard... To Crash. I've never seen the video for Moses by 808 State, that I can recall. This is the image I see in my head when I hear the song......

Ok, this just won't do. Only one post on the great 808 State & these guys deserve better. 808 State became well known through the whole Manchester rave scene putting out electronic based dance music starting in '88. "Gorgeous" is there '93 effort which, as usual, showcases collaborations with other English artists(mostly). On this cd there is one song each with Ian McCulloch("Moses"), New Order("Contrique"), Paul Weller ("10x10" I'll post this in the comments) & UB40 . ... MORE
