Track:Money, Power, Respect
Follow with me here... I'm gonna tell you a story that's supported by some music (a lot of hip-hop in honor of it being HHT), however, I need to use the comments to finish the story, so it's probably best if you use the 'Permalink' version of this post to see the whole thing... I apologize in advance to the MOG-Gods, but I couldn't resist the multiple mp3 postings (trust me, I cut this down a LOT)...At least for the past year I have struggled with my job, frustrated by the lack of opportunity it presented me, frustrated by the lack of money in my wallet, frustrated by the lack of respect I was offered for the amount of work I had to do in relation to that money in my wallet. I scoured the internet and all of my friends/contacts to try to find a new employment opportunity, telling them that I Hate It Here.I was slowly losing my mind. Okay, maybe not so slowly… I fortunately had quite a few friends at my job that kept me in line and relatively sane. I also had plenty of people telling me ”Don’t Give Up”.So I didn’t. I pushed on, thanks mainly to the support of others. Months rolled by, I got a few nibbles on my resume here & there, but nothing that really had the proverbial light shine down from the heavens telling me that I had found the right fit to get the fuck out of dodge. That was until last week. A phone interview and a ‘real’ interview later, I have a new job, That comes with Okay, well at least 2 of those things…On to the fun part, after letting me wilt away under their unholy rule, I am completely torn about what I want to about all this to them on my exit interview. I basically have decided that I am going to take the high road because there are a lot of people here that I still like and I also respect my manager, however, to put it lightly, a lot of the higher-ups are probably direct descendants of those that escaped Jonestown alive. I am NOT drinking their Kool-Aid.
