Did anyone else notice that Paul Stanely's "Live To Win" was the song that accompanied the montage on South Park's "Make Love, Not Warcraft" episode? It seemed that the song was made for a goofy montage! Incredibly this is a song that will be released on an album of the same name. I'm a pretty huge fan of Kiss (watch my trusted mog membership dwindle), this is something that developed in my youth and I have simply never outgrown. I own their discography up until about 1983 on vinyl and still seek out bootleg videos of their performances in the make-up. With this history of Kiss worship I easily recognized Stanley's voice in the episode and used the powers of the interweb to confirm my hunch. I say Matt Stone and Trey Parker are brilliant for using it. There is nothing about Kiss that can be taken seriously and I wonder if Paul really understood that the inclusion of his song in this animated satire was just as much a goof on him as it was on the MMORPG players the episode lampooned. The obvious answer is that the members of Kiss know this and have shamelessly allowed any promotion of their creation even if it's used as a joke at the expense of the band itself. Amazingly this endears me to them even more. So I say, good move Paul.On a side note, this episode of South Park has been more well received at the fortune 500 computer company I work for than a surprise announcement of new stock options. Finally the folks with half an interest in things outside the confines of a server can enjoy a collective guffaw at the expense of those that have filled our break rooms with talk of a world that technically doesn't exist, queueing us all to roll our eyes as we grab that necessary liquid caffeine before checking our email.
