New Dandy's Album On The Way!

Posted 4 months ago

Politically? Why, I'm a staunch Progger!

So why do I love The Dandy Warhols? 'Cause they write great psychedelic-tinged tunage, they're renegades (telling Capital Records to shove off and producing their own material in their own studio - "The Odditorium"), and they're just fun people (albeit in an interestingly dark way)!

So big, Dandy news: New release, "This Machine", due out early April 2012. Then a tour of Europe (where they have always been most popular). Hopefully a U.S. tour will follow in the summer. Luckily, The Dandys are from Portland, so they always get to Seattle......and I ALWAYS make time to go see them.

From http://www.dandywarhols.com :

The first round of touring in support of The Dandy Warhols' 8th or 9th or 10th album, This Machine, will commence Friday the 13th (oh boy) of April in...oh, we are...will commence Saturday the 14th of April (whew) at Ole Bull in BERGEN, Norway, followed by the 15th in OSLO at Rockefeller Music Hall. Then, we take one of those dragon-head boats, blasting Led Zeppelin III, through the Whatever-it-is Sea to DUBLIN (Vicar Street) on 18th of April, followed by a jump to GLASGOW (Garage) on the 19th, MANCHESTER (Academy) on the 20th, and LONDON (HMV Forum) on 21st April. Then with the help of a wizard, we fly to ZURICH (Abart Music Hall) on 23rd April, take a cab to AMSTERDAM (Melkweg Max) the 25th, skip over to DUSSELDORF (Zakk) on the 26th, then backtrack to BRUSSELS (Ancienne Belgique) on the 27th, stumble to PARIS (Olympia) the 29th, and finally surge into LUXEMBOURG (Den Atelier) on Monday, 30th April.

If you're anywhere near, I'd strongly suggest going to a show. Here's a couple of videos to get you in the mood to go see them:

I'm late but not disappointed!!  The Dandy Warhols are great.  It's been a while since I've listened!  So I had no idea they had a new album.

Smoke It and Sheriff Shorty are my all time favorites.  I WISH I could see them live....who knows!

And then I Dreamt of Yes is immediately likable...a slightly softer sound than what I'm used to from them. I like it!

    Thanks for posting this.

DashboardDJ:  Thanks for including the video - never saw that one before.  Didn't know Fathead could play guitar....

grace m:  na na na na    na na na  yourself!  :)

jaggerandrea:  "Holding Me Up" is my personal favorite, especially live.  Courtney's tunes are so simple, yet memorable.  And Pete has an amazing ability to create mesmerizing sound textures.
