Introducing... Romantica

Posted about 4 years ago
About a month ago, I ventured over to The Showroom (a local arts venue I frequent) for a show by a band called Romantica. At the end of the night, I realized that it was one of the best live shows I had seen in some time. The band members looked like they were all in my age range. Their sound draws comparisons to Ryan Adams based on lead singer Ben Kyle's voice, but so far, I am enjoying their music on its own terms. The band hails from Minneapolis (although Kyle ventured to the States from Ireland) and formed the band with some friends in 2002.The band's album America made the "Top 100 CDs of 2007" in Paste and the magazine sponsored their most recent tour.Anyway, here's some tunes by the band. If you consider yourself a fan of the Americana genre, you should enjoy their stuff.More info on the band's official website or MySpace page.

  7. Betherz247 says I realize this is a bit late but great post! I actually saw these guys last week they played the City Pages Presents the Best of the Twin Cities a free show here in Mpls, kind of really crazy line-up on Gospel Gossip (shoegazer type stuff), Romantica, The Alarmists (pop-rock) and Doomtree (hip-hop). They were all really good, really odd all together but still good, I was impressed with Romantica, I have a soft spot for alt-country/americana type stuff
