WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Tyler Ramsey joins Band of Horses

Posted over 2 years ago
Back in March, I had the chance to attend a concert at my favorite local music venue, The Showroom, for a regional musician named Tyler Ramsey, who hails from Asheville, NC, which is about an hour away from where I currently reside. I posted about Tyler here in June, but learned recently that he is now touring in support of and as part of the lineup of the South Carolina-based indie rock group, Band of Horses. Here's an article from HARP Magazine about his joining the band:http://www.harpmagazine.com/news/detail.cfm?article=11807Band of Horses appeared this past Thursday night on The Late Show with David Letterman and Tyler popped up, much to my surprise.Tyler's solo work has a different sound from that of his new band. It is more lo-fi and an amalgamation of genres. His guitar playing has been compared to Leo Kottke, while other songs on the new album remind me of Beck or even Gary Jules. As Band of Horses continues to tour the U.S. in support of their new album Cease to Begin, Tyler will be along for the ride. If they happen to play in your neck of the woods, go check out Tyler's music. Here are a couple of tracks off Tyler's soon-to-be-released second album, A Long Dream About Swimming Across the Sea.For more info on & music from Tyler Ramsey, check out his MySpace page or his official site.

  2. Mike the Knife says I find that the minimal lyrics of "Is There a Ghost" are a little off-putting, but damn, that's infectious!
