Del McCoury ought to be able to do these songs well, and he does. He was one of Bill Monroe's "Bluegrass Boys" from those early days of bluegrass music. And his band, The Del McCoury Band, puts in fine performances. It is good to hear these songs done in far more fidelity than was possible with the recording technology of Bill Monroe's days. hey now, someone younger than me (I'm 53) would probably eat this album up. It is a great rock album with great lyrics and high production values. But, it does sound like they are trying to sound just a little too much like Mick and the boys. Half the songs on this album are originals. The other half are bluegrass classics or modern day standards like "White House Blues". Most of the originals are penned by lead vocalist Benita Murphy who also plays rhythm guitar. She does a good job as lead singer too.
