Saigon's latest single "Believe It" hit the streets today, but not on Atlantic Records. As Frost reported last year, the rapper has been trying to get out of his contract with the major label after his sole single "Pain in My Life" barely broke into the top 100 on the Hip-Hop Songs chart.

He signed to Atlantic in 2004, but never received the support he needed to get his career going. His debut album has been delayed so many times, it's obscene and the Atlantic rep who originally signed him jumped ship and joined Columbia just 3 months later. Lucky for Sai, he landed a super popular role in the HBO tv show "Entourage" in 2006. He plays himself, a struggling unsigned rapper, but on the show he's discovered by Turtle. Turtle may be a fictional character, but he has done SO much more for Saigon's image and career than any label has. Saigon says he may return to that role this season, while shopping other labels to distribute his music. Billboard reported today:
Saigon says he's in talks with several major labels as well as a non-traditional music company for his next artist deal. His latest single, "Believe It," was released today (May 21) via TheMegatrondon2.com. Saigon says he has seven viral videos ready to release but was waiting until his contract was resolved.
Saigon emphasized that he is ready to put his music out there and has numerous juicy things lined up for fans:
"It's not like I didn't want to put out music," he continues. "But Atlantic wanted me to do ringtone songs but they didn't sign me as a ringtone artist."
