I haven't heard anything from the online digital music distributer 7digital in quite awhile and I've been wondering what's up over there. I finally heard some news from them, and boy is it BIG NEWS! 7digital has released Pink Floyd's entire catalog of albums as DRM-free high quality mp3s in the UK! Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are currently selling for £5.49 and £6.99, but according to hypebot, this is for a limited time only, so don't sleep! I would assume that if 7digital is doing this in the UK, that US digital retailers will soon have these albums available DRM-free also? Step up iTunes/Amazon/Wal-Mart! Honestly, I still have my fave Pink Floyd albums on vinyl, so I'm not in need. But if they were needing replaced, I would be all over this deal. DRM-free tunes work equally well on Zunes, Zens and iPhones. And, once you purchase the mp3s, you can legally make your own ringtones from any of the songs! And by giving different ringtones to different groups of people, you could get mad creative with this! Just think - your pocket could ring out with "We don't no education" everytime you get a call from your parents! Or, "All in all it's just another brick in the wall" when it's work calling you to work an extra shift... You get the idea.

And Pink Floyd is just one of so many albums available as DRM-free mp3s from 7digital. They have just about everything any record store would have - Rolling Stones, The Go! Team, Bonde Do Role, The White Stripes, Animal Collective, Klaxons, etc. etc. etc.
