WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Jah Cure Is Free - 1st Performance Set For Sundance

Posted over 2 years ago
Siccature Alcock stepped out of the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston Jamaica and into the life he had been dreaming about while sleeping behind bars for the last 8 years. When Alcock left prison, he finally stepped into the shoes of Jah Cure. There was a press conference held to meet the man behind the music. When Jah Cure entered the room on the arm of his mother, he was greeted by complete silence. Silence broken only by the sound of numerous cameras being clicked, shutters opening and closing, film advancing, and more silence. Finally, the photographers were asked to step back, and Spragga Benz himself stepped forth to offer a prayer and give thanks to Jah for the man who has served his time and is ready to become a member of society again. Jah Cure's publicist from Danger Zone Records introduced him to the podium, and the press listened eagerly for what he had to say, and for their chance to ask him their burning question. Cure apparently did a fine job with all the questions even though he saved a few for a later date, no doubt ones that got too close to the heart of the matter that had imprisoned him for so long. For those of you who have been reading reports of where we can catch the Cure in concert - let there be no doubt - Jah Cure's first performance will be the amazing Sundance Music Festival in Holland on August 12th. Whether this counts as the special surprise guest, or whether that surprise is another, yet-to-be-revealed act, I don't know.Curefest, the official welcoming party to celebrate Cure's release and promote a positive message in reggae and dancehall lyrics, has been postponed until October. At the press conference, Cure said that he was actually relieved about this because it would give him more time to prepare and takes some of the strain of a hectic schedule. Two things - Danger Zone better have his visa sorted coz if I have to come back here and report about how he was denied entrance to Holland, I am going to be furious. This is such a big deal, and the folks in Holland have gotten so excited to see him. I really do not want to see that hope dashed at a time when it is so needed. And, I wonder if Peter T is going to hound Cure to sign the Reggae Compassion Act...Jah Cure Website
