Dr. Brian May - Queen Astrophysicist

Queen's legendary guitarist Brian May put the finishing touches on his doctoral thesis in astrophysics today. May is in the Canary Islands documenting observations from the Institute of Astrophysics for his thesis "Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud." It sounds like a fancy-pants way of saying a The Fog of Astrology now available on record or cd, but instead it is the final step towards a PhD in Astrophysics. 60 year old Brian May abandoned his scientific studies 35 years ago to pursue rock science as the guitarist of Queen. According to yahoo news, he "dropped his doctorate research into interstellar dust as the band met with increasing success" but I think it would be more accurate to say that he focused on a different kind of interstellar dust that led to new successes for Queen. But in all seriousness, it's uber-cool that someone like this would go back to school and see it through, and it puts much of Queen's lyrics into perspective. I also just learned from the yahoo article that May co-wrote the book, "Bang! The Complete History of the Universe" along with Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott. The book was published last year and is available everywhere. Assuming that the Imperial College of London accepts his work and grants him the prestigious title, Brian May will be a double doctor - he has already received an honorary doctorate from Exeter U in Devon, England.More details at yahoo news."Bohemian Rhapsody":
