New Bill Maher Movie "Religulous" Features Gnarls Barkley, CCR, Bob Dylan, Ben Folds +More

Posted about 1 year ago

Bill Maher's new movie is about to hit theaters with a pretty fab soundtrack, featuring Gnarls Barkley, CCR, Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, Ben Folds and more.

1. Travelin' Band (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
2. The Birds And The Bees (Jewel Akens)
3. I Ain't Superstitious (The Jeff Beck Group)
4. Wooly Bully (Sam The Sham & The Parohs)
5. Almaredemptoris Mater (Voices Of Ascension)
6. Jesusland (Ben Folds)
7. Jesus Is Just Alright (Doobie Brothers)
8. Crazy (Gnarls Barkley)
9. Party In My Pants (Apollo aka Apollo Braun aka Doron Braunshtein)
10. Yiddish Blues (Klezmer Conservatory Band)
11. Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan)
12. I Think We're Alone Now (Tiffany)
13. Road To Nowhere (The Talking Heads)

Maher points out that if you dress like a bum and shout the tenets of any major religion in the street, you'll sound crazy and the story will sound preposterous. To prove his point, he went out in the streets of London, in disguise, and tried teaching passerby the history of Scientology. He says it works equally well with other creation myths though.

Here's a clip to the tune of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley:

(If that vid starts with a commercial, I apologize. It was the only place I could find this clip from the movie ahead of release...)

The movie was directed by Larry Charles (director of Borat) and produced by Jonah Smith and Palmer West of Thousand Words (Scanner Darkly, Requiem For A Dream). Here's one of the trailers for the movie with more tunes:

damn, the hulu player does start with a stupid ad.  sorry about that.

if you wait it out though, you get to see Bill Maher lookin homeless and shouting out Scientology beliefs.  People on the street acted like he was crazy, but how would they feel if it were Tom Cruise shoutin the same thing?

Yes-this does look good.  Maher is consistent with his point that how people interpret religeon is the problem...
