What's the fascination with the Black Kids? For some reason, I just don't get it. Their music makes me think of stuff that played on the radio in the 80's that made me change the channel. Was it New Wave back then? What is it now?
Anyway, I know peeps like this stuff, coz MOG went record shopping with them and filmed it for MOGtv. And people post about Black Kids' music here on MOG. So tell me why you like them.
Here's the brand new video for "Look at me (When I Rock Wichoo)" from the Black Kids:
So disco-sounding and glam-looking. Is it a hipster NYC thing that I would simply never understand as a west coast techno-head/hip hop-enthusiast?

Please tell this band was on the doomed airliner in Spain! I actually f'n hate them....
please tell ME ....
I think its the irony and post-post modernism.
This is the first time I actually heard the Black Kids, so I'm not a fan, but to see someone who really butchers the 80's look one post in the MOS below this one at Metro Station.
The singer desperately wants to be Robert Smith.
^^took the words right out of my mouth
The first problem is that there are three white kids and only one and a half Black Kids. I'm damn near offended. And I mean that kindly.
color me unimpressed. I had heard the hype, and listened to the album. Thankfully I did not buy it.........a flash in the pan I say
Gone in a year...tops.
Agreed, Im over it. Absolutley nothing original about the "Kids," no star quality, nothing innovative... just plain annoying...
and i here i thought everyone was all ga ga for these kids. well, i raise my glass to all of you who have commented here:
Here's To Good Taste In Music! Cheers!
The total 180 degree reversal by Pitchfork from loving to hating is pretty strange.
