What Kind Of Booty Did You Find On Your Last Record Shopping Trip?
-
Artist:
I had the good fortune to be record shopping in L.A. recently. My mates and I hit Amoeba in Hollywood and Dr. Freecloud's in Fountain Valley. I must say, that is a great combination for crate diggers/vinyl junkies like myself! At Amoeba, I found:
808 State - 90

which features the tune "808080808":
Doormouse / Subjex - Say, Is That A Pickle In Your Pocket?

I couldn't find audio for this record, but you can watch a Doormouse video by clicking here...
Wiley/Plastician b2b Skepta/JME, Skepta/Trim
Frisco, Skepta, Trim - "Aiya Napa Story":
Miss Kitten - BatBox

which features "Kittin is High":

Dr. Freecloud's and its proprietor, dj Ron D. Core, are each a pillar in west coast dj culture. The store specializes in hardcore techno, but also has an incredible selection of hip hop, house, trance, techno and a short stack of IDM with some of the best underground producers worldwide. The acid techno stacks were led by a dozen Drop Bass records, so I picked up 001 for under $10. Unbelievable, and in great condition too! Click on the label to go to Drop Bass' website, where you can listen to this release:
Picked up Cool Cuts 001 for less than I can publish on the internet. Email for price. Also found an acetate of a tune called Spiral, another acid techno tune which blew my ear socks off when I heard it!! Oh yeah - you can preview records on the guest Stantons before you decide to buy it. I came home with a full bag of tunes I already love.
Best record shopping trip in a while. Totally love my new tunes, they've had me bouncing to the beat all day! What did you find on your last record shopping trip?
