WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Roots Manuva Releases Big Tunes "Again & Again" - Now With Video!

Posted about 1 year ago

Roots Manuva takes an old school approach to "Again & Again," the latest single from his upcoming new LP Slime & Reason. The tune is a smooth blend of UK hip hop and slow skanking dancehall. You'd think that Manuva would no longer have to explain himself to anyone, but the lyrics in "Again & Again" suggest otherwise. One look at his catalog and you'd know where he's coming from - a humble hip hopper from the heartical land, he's never sold out but he sells a tune or two now and again.... Here's the new video for "Again & Again":

If you enjoy Roots Manuva's music and you can't wait for the new album to come out, I highly suggest you check out the Big Dada compilation released last year, called Well Deep. It's a retrospective of Big Dada's 10 years in the biz and features a lot of Manuva tracks from early days.

This laid-back reggae outta UK sound is one of my favorite things to listen to. It's a real treat that artists like Roots Manuva are keeping it fresh in 2008. I can totally imagine "Again & Again" in the mix at the Roxy circa 1977 with Don Letts on the 1s and 2s and the Clash kickin back with a pint and a spliff....

Hihi, Reggae-Molly is back. You'd totally enjoy living in London I guess. There's no lack of Reggea and HipHop-Reggea mixtures played in clubs as far as I can tell - though I've not been to one so far. I went for the Brazilian rythms first :) Roots Manuva is one of few Reggea related bands that I like.

Check out The Nextmen, if you like the mixture of HipHop and Reggae. They are throwing parties in the Big Smoke regularily. Must visit one of them at some point.
