I hope Kardinal Offishall attracts more fans this year via his collaborations with Estelle, Akon, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Lindo P and others. The firestarter has been active in the biz for a long ass time, but hasn't received the widespread recognition and acclaim that his talent warrants. I feel like this could be Kardinal's year, but we'll see what develops as the release of his new album draws near.

Kardinall has been documenting his time spent backstage with a video blog. Unedited, straight up home-movie stuff that displays how unexciting being a rap star can be sometimes. There's definintely way more exposure through videos than there has been in his career. This dude is just so ill, on the mic that I feel like he'll run into that Murphy's Law for emcees: With the exception of the big names (Jay, Nas, B.I.G., Pun, & even Pac to an extent) the people with the most talent don't break through to the mainstream so often. Lupe, Kweli, Common, The Roots and a bunch of other immensly amazing people are on the cusp of superstardom, but not quite there.
