Techno News: New Kenny Larkin LP, Scotland Fest Hosts Dave Clarke, Goldfrapp, Spiritualized +More

Posted about 1 year ago
Better things are happening in the techno scene than David Bowie covers by Carl Craig. 2 things in particular look mighty intertesting: a new album from Kenny Larkin and the Hydro Connect Festival.Detroit techno veteran Kenny Larkin is about to release his follow-up to 2004's Funkfaker. The new album is called Keys, Strings, Tambourines (the most unlikely name for a techno record) and it will be released on Planet E July 1st. Planet E is Carl Craig's imprint and Larkin recorded part of the album in Craig's studio in Detroit. Larkin describes the experience:
"Inspiration for this album simply came from the love of electronic music," says Larkin. "It's my most dancefloor-oriented album to date...The majority of the album was written at my home in LA, but I flew to Detroit a few times to work in Carl's studio which did wonders for my inspiration. Nothing can top the type of inspiration I get from being in a proper studio environment in Detroit. I stayed in Carl's studio and worked for days!"
