Posted about 1 year ago
Say it ain't so! Jean Grae modified her myspace page to say goodbye to the rap game with lots of love to her fans. Her moniker now reads "Jean Grae Saying Peace Out" and on Saturday she posted a Thank You/Goodbye letter to her fans.Excerpts from her blog at http://www.myspace.com/jeangrae :

Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself
Thank you for letting me share what I could with you and sharing yourselves back, as you have really been the reason that I kept on.
It's always nice to know that you could be the voice of someone who didn't have one, or know just how to say it.
No comment or letter or statement of appreciation has ever gone unnoticed.
She leaves us with these words on the hip hop scene itself:
I will always love what I consider to be true hip hop music... from the bottom of my soul.
I hope you will continue to distinguish those who are contributors to the evolution of hip hop and other black music as both an auditory stimulation and a culture, taking care that they are put in a position to do so.
Thank you listeners, whom I consider my friends and family....
Enjoy.... see y'all around..
It's been amazing.. thank you again.
peaces..
She also took down all her photos except the one in her default pic. I do hope, like one commenter said, the Phoenix will rise from the ashes to rap again. I've been eagerly awaiting her new album Jeanius while rocking to her gorgeous tune, "Love Thirst". The song and the album are produced by 9th Wonder and were due out this year on Blacksmith. Hopefully still to come!

  1. getafade says I'm not familiar with her music, but I'll definitely check it out. It looks like "the industry" can claim another casualty.

  3. linda jacqueline says Hm. I don't think I'm going to be too depressed. She had the finest intentions but I never really got drawn in. 9th Wonder production sounds good though.
