Video & Photos Of Yeah Yeah Yeahs Live In Oakland 09/09/09

I don't listen to much rock n roll these days (still love the classics, just not much of an indie rock fan) with one exception: Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen, Nick and Brian bring so much energy and enthusiasm to each and every show no matter how long they've been on tour, no matter how sick they may be that day, no matter what else is going on in the world, they deliver 110% every time. Combined with an unearthly amount of natural talent, solid knowledge of music theory and the courage to experiment in any direction they desire, you've got a band with endless possibilities & full of surprises. I could gush all day about the triple Y's specialness, but I'd be preaching to the choir. Everyone I know loves Yeah Yeah Yeahs' music. Including loads of peeps who listen to nothing but hip hop or nothing but electronica or whatevs - even they admit to being Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans. I don't know of any other band that wows non-rock fans across the board. So, with that said, let's get to the goods!

They played 2 nights in a row in Oakland this summer, the pivotal 09/09/09 (which happened to be Nick Zinner and Aliya Naumoff's anniversary - Congrats you two!!) and the following night 09/10/09. While not as exciting numerically, the band were in top form the second night and played a more unusual set in my opinion. Perhaps it was their cover of The Cramps' "Human Fly" which I don't remember hearing the first night.
