I can't figure out if this is aimed at die-hard music collectors/vinyl junkies who revel in having records no one else knew existed... Or if the PR dept is simply trying to keep demand higher than supply for perception's sake..? Either way, it's the kind of thing you kick yourself for 5 years later when they're impossible to find (not to mention the street cred it'll be worth for djs who play it out!)
Four Tet's Kieran Hebden is back with Love Cry - here's the limited info we dug up at BLEEP.com:
The latest release from Kieran Hebden arrives in a growingly familiar and mysterious context. With no information, sales note or sleeve artwork and released on a limited print 12", we expect this to fly off of our shelves. The lead-track "Love-Cry" is evident of Kieran Hebden's recent exploration into hypnotic , Kraut infused 4/4 techno... a chopped female vocal sample dances ecstatically in the rhythm machine to great effect. On the flip "Our Bells" he takes us through a mini symphony of chiming, oriental bells- beatless and delicious.
Looks like 12" vinyl is the only choice - even digital copies won't be available - so if ya want it ya should jump to BLEEP asap. Apparently the Four Tet/Burial split "Moth" record barely touched down before flying off the shelves and BLEEP believe this one will follow suit.
While it lasts, you can listen to the title track "Love Cry" right here:
For me, the one that got away is Coil's 2x12 LP Musick To Play In The Dark on heavyweight IVORY coloured vinyl with artwork etched into 1 of the sides... i loooove that album but somehow it isn't the same on CD or mp3...especially if you actually listen to it in the dark :) In fact, Musick... would play nicely with Love Cry I think. Any ambient/chill/downtempo djs out there?
