WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Keepin Up With The Cool Crowd On MOG: Kano, DJ Mehdi, Izza Kizza & More

Posted about 1 month ago

Nothin toxic to see here, I'm reachin into Wednesday with this late night snack... I tried to figure out an easy/convenient way to share MOG posts I'm diggin with my fellow moggers. An inter-mog inter-linking of some sort that serves to "bump" posts I'm happy to have found (before they're mashed and blended into the vast well of knowledge we call the mogOsphere.)

Until I think of something more prettier/more creative, we'll just have to use a good old fashioned link round-up:

KANO Unleashes Full Version of 'Niggaz Want My Old Shit' posted by First Up! - a blogger I've been following since before MMN existed. I highly recommend First Up! to anyone who listens to/keeps up with "urban" music on both sides of the Pond. Partly coz this blog keeps me on top of all the latest grime, dance & clubbin tunes and partly because I really dig the honesty of the blogger. (She?) doesn't try to "polish a turd" as they say. This latest post is a fine example: Kano is on thin ice today and better step up his game soon. Otherwise the reviews of his new album will be more rant than rave...

The Very Best (Radioclit/Esau band) - "Julia" - KANO version:

Other posts/songs/artists/bloggers that caught my ear today:

If you like Kano, Missy Elliott and ting, check out Izza Kizza. He reminds me a LOT of Miss E, especially tunes from his digital mixtape Kizzaland. Check out this video for "Ooh La La":

Also playing on MOG today - 1 remix and 1 live vid...

Listen to/dL DJ Medhi remix of Santigold's "Lights Out" avail over on Danger Bees' blog

And finally, a likkle live action from Brother Ali from his recent visit to Paris, France:

Grand Crew Capture Brother Ali in Paris via Okayplayer

Brother Ali might appeal to roots reggae fans as well as hip hop fans, so def give him a spin. His lyrics are more accessable than most mainstream rap these days & he occasionally slips into that Cali-sort of ska sound that Sublime made uber-famous once. But I do think the reggae influencing him is straight, unfiltered Jamaican roots, no imitation or ice cream sounds. Enjoy!!
