Cops Use Mace, Dogs & Chaos To Shut Down DMX Show Wednesday Night

Posted about 1 year ago
It's clear from this video that DMX was in his element and had the crowd roaring along to his tunes. Well, the 3 he managed to play before the cops incited a riot! You'd never know it from these 36 seconds, but the concert that took place on Indiana University campus in Bloomington on Wednesday night, was probably doomed to fail. Having the cops show up with dogs and mace certainly didn't soothe the situation. Apparently, some frat boys who don't know how to organize shows, thought they could get DMX in and out of the building in under an hour. They promised the police that the show would be over by 9:30, when curfew kicks in. Having the show start at 8:30pm was optimistic, but counting on a star like DMX to show up on time was downright foolish. To make matters worse, there was some goodie-2-shoes running around, spreading the idea that DMX promised to pass out alcohol to students during the show.Needless to say, when DMX did show and fired into his first 3 songs, the crowd was elated and having a great time. Police rudely pulled the plug at 9:30 and caused a panic among the student body. Many tried to escape by rushing into a closed-off street. When a string of die-hard fans remained in the front row - some waiting for an encore, some waiting for a refund of the $25 ticket price, others protesting loudly about the injustice of misplaced authority - police switched to a chemical attack. There's a few different versions of what happened next, but I know some arrests were made by campus police. Most witnesses agree that DMX had nothing to do with the violence or protests. He was forced off the stage at the onset and was not seen again. The full story is available on a few websites, but this one on the Indiana Daily Student seems to be the source:DMX concert report on IDS News

  1. Jo says Reading into the circumstances, 'doomed to fail' indeed, and what a shame. A hell of a lot of people will have a hell of a lot to answer for... which wouldn't have had to be, had people used some sense. Sad, really.
