Harmonia & Eno Meet Shackleton Inna "Autumn" [Listen]

Posted over 2 years ago

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something FREE for YOU!! Experimental electronica has morphed and evolved in the last 50 years, constantly building on, borrowing from and reworking what's been done in to something original. Some do it well, some do more damage than good. This combination of Harmonia and Eno's 70's sound and Shackleton's new millenium style however, is a timeless match. Fans of the masters and the remasters alike should give a listen...

Shackleton takes on the massive task of remixing the classic krautrocktronica known as Tracks & Traces, the 1976 release by Harmonia and Brian Eno. The IntelligentDubstepMusician takes "Sometimes In Autumn" with its warm n fuzzy guitars, singing synths and sparse rhythms and launches the song into the future with his glitchy noise-dub at the controls.

Best of all, you can listen to and/or download it free from RCRD LBL right now!

The original 1976 release is newly reissued on Groenland Records, so to celebrate, Allez-Allez commissioned two brand new remixes - this one, plus another by Appleblim featuring Komonazmuk. Both remixes are part of a Shackleton/Appleblim split EPcoming out on limited edition vinyl as well as digital download on November 2nd. The Allez-Allez site sez:

we gave the dubstep icons their pick of songs from the record and the tracks the guys have come up with are both epic affairs that ease the retro futurism of harmonia & eno's compositions onto a tripped out 21st century dancefloor.

FACT Magazine also has a proper review of what Shackleton has done to history this time and you can find more info about it and the shared EP over there:

Thanks, I enjoyed that.  Not my usual thing.  But I'll certainly listen again.  Love the picture.  The kind of thing bonsai is intended to recreate on a small scale.

I'm with Scot on this one--I am familiar with the Cluster and Eno recordings, but never knew there was a Harmonia and Eno record out there to be found.  Awesome.
