The Music Video That Wiley Walked Off Of - It's Terrible!

Posted about 1 year ago
What's going on with music videos these days? So many of them are badly produced or make the artist look bad in some way. The new video for Wiley's dance track "Wearing My Rolex" is a fine example. I heard the stories about Wiley walking off the set and refusing to participate, so I wasn't expecting much. But now I can see why he didn't want to be part of it. It has no street cred and none of the elements that make grime vids look really fun to make. Have a look:What's worse is that this is some weird play on Dizzee's video for "Sirens" that came out last year. Wiley would be a fool to get involved in a vid that looked like a cheap imitation of something Dizzee did.

  4. Baudolino says The pre-production meeting must have been a real hoot. "I've got this GREAT idea - let's do the video with loads of foxy babes! And we'll dress them up as.....FOXES! BRILLIANT or what?" "Errrrrr....."

  5. Sturgell says (warning: inner-critic unleashed) first off the song is named "Wearing My Rolex" which is enough want to walk away right off the bat. I read the post/comments first then watched the vid. I didn't really understand what was so bad or why Wiley walked. Seemed like any other video at first, but then I took a closer look. Quite simply the costumes, dancing, set design and the overall concept were of very low quality. Like, backyard "I'm bored let's film some shit my brother has a nice camera" quality. I imagine this vid is a case of hiring friends and not professionals.

  6. mollifire says That's exactly the problem - low budget all the way thru. But Wiley had nothing to do with the it. He voiced the track and later agreed to be in the video. But when he showed up he was like F this! (I'm guessing the producer of the tune organized it, coz the song isn't WIley's and it's not on his label either).
