M.I.A. will bring her "Boyz" and "Bird Flu" to the States again this Spring, with a tour that kicks off at Coachella April 26th. From there she follows a bizarre route that looks like it was mapped out by a dizzy, blindfolded monkey. Which means she'll hit numerous spots in the midwest with occasional jumps to the four corners of the country.

M.I.A. tour dates:

26 Apr Coachella Festival Indio, California
28 Apr 4th and B San Diego, California
1 May La Zona Rosa Austin, Texas
2 May Palladium Ballroom Dallas, Texas
5 May City Hall Nashville, Tennessee
8 May Fillmore Detroit Detroit, Michigan
9 May Aragon Ballroom Chicago, Illinois
12 May Turner Hall Ballroom Milwaukee, Wisconsin
13 May Myth Maplewood, Minnesota
14 May Liberty Hall Lawrence, Kansas
17 May Fillmore Auditorium Denver, Colorado
18 May The Depot Salt Lake City, Utah
23 May Roseland Theater Portland, Oregon
6 Jun McCarren Pool Brooklyn, New York
14 Jun Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival Manchester, Tennessee

Sweet! Looks like McCarren Pool will see another summer of concerts this year. It seems like a fantastic place to hear music; and I definitely wouldn't want to be in the pool with that many people if it were filled with water! Have you seen the photos of that place from its heyday? It's almost scary! I can't remember the total # of people it could hold, but it's a LOT :

LOL ... yeah I see what you mean.

I've heard she is notorious for canceling shows though ... good news is she has a few days off before playing the Milwaukee gig, which is a great venue as its not too big.

About that McCarren pool pic ... what ... you're saying they book concerts and drain the pool? And yeah that looks fricken gi-nourmously huge.

the pool hasn't had pool water in it for years, so they set up a stage next to the deep end and the crowd fills the pool. the stage is also huge - like festival huge. then, last year, the city made plans and a budget to revamp that particular park with a proposal to turn the pool back into a water sport. but, being 2008 in NYC , they would remodel the pool to be smaller. still huge, but only like half as big as it is now. the music fans don't want that to happen, but i think the neighbors do. i wasn't sure how that was going to pan out for this summer until i saw this list of shows. Looks like another summer of Pool Parties!

Well that makes more sense.

Humorously, I was trying to negotiate in my head what the timeframe would be to drain and fill such a massive space ... to say nothing of the cost.

On looking closer at the picture, thats no pool ... its a man made lake.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification. Have fun at the summer Pool Parties.
