Al Green Reveals Details About New Album With ?uestlove

Blue Note and Al Green revealed more details today about his upcoming new album: As previously reported, Ahmir Thompson - aka ?uestlove - produced the album with Green at the Electric Ladyland studios in NYC. Today we learn that the album is titled Lay It Down, it features duets with Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend and Anthony Hamilton and it will be released by Blue Note on May 27th.Mr. Qool ?uest Love posted a video of drumming at the recording sesh waaaaaay back in 2006, with the following description:

Shame i didn't have a professional crew document these 3 days of recording Al's 3rd Blue Note album. All i can say is that i'm a producer on a mission. and that mission is to make the follow up album to 1977's The Belle Album. Al's last great masterpiece. Sonically i wanted to take him back to the raw elements the make a classic Al record. no synths, no crunk, no snap, no cameos, just raw breakbeat drums, a bass, an organ, a guitar, and AL.
