Mingus & Miles Davis Collaborator Teo Macero Passed Away

Posted almost 4 years ago
Teo Macero produced Miles Davis' most outrageous albums, including Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way and Kind of Blue. On Tuesday he died at the age of 82. Macero was one of the most influential people in jazz history. He co-founded Charles Mingus' Jazz Composers Workshop, recorded several albums with Mingus and he signed Mingus, Monk and Byrd to Columbia Records while he was a producer at the label. Macero died February 19th in Quogue, NY after surviving years of illness.News from Giant StepExtensive bio on wikipedia and WFIU

  2. Mike the Knife says A giant has passed. (BTW, I'd hardly call In a Silent Way and Kind of Blue "outrageous," unless you mean outrageously great and innovative and brilliant.)
