News is super slow over the holiday weeks, so I have some time to catch up with some under-the-radar music news. Let's start with a grime/bassline primer featuring one of the biggest UK producers of 2007 - T2. T2 has been the talk of the town around the globe the last few months, due to the insane success of his song with Jodie Aysha, "Heartbroken." Now he's teamed up with soul divas Addictive and continues to produce some of the most beautiful electronic music fused with soul vocals. This combo could give Alicia Keys a run for the money if they made it onto a Billboard chart! "Heartbroken" has been the club anthem of the year in the UK since April and recently started getting radio play in both England and Sweden. The tune has been in constant rotation in my house since June and I just can't get tired of it! I def need to cop the vinyl so I can rock it proper, just need to find it in the states somewhere. Here is the video for T2 - "Heartbroken" ft. Jodie Aysha:Here is a new remix of "Heartbroken" by G of FrSH Entertainment:Tim & Barry are always getting the exclusive freestyles and magical moments in grime captured on film and promptly uploaded to youTube. They recently managed to squeeze into a room with Jammer and Tempz who just happened to be spitting over T2's "Dumpvalve" riddim. It's siiiiiiick! Watch the vid:More T2 music (just audio, not videos):T2 - "Tazor" riddim (instrumental):T2 - "Saving All My Love":T2 is the biggest name in Bassline which is a subgenre that grew out of UK garage music. Dubstep and grime are both examples of music that spawned out of garage as well. Loads of people (myself included) feel that Bassline is going to explode internationally in 2008 and maybe enjoy more mainstream success than grime has. So, if you like this sound, you will be able to hear more and more of it outside of England in the next year. If you are in England and you like to record shop, drop me a line. I need to work out some kind of network for getting this ish on vinyl over here in Cali. Maybe we could seek out local records for each other and save some dough on shipping. One more from T2 - "Weak" riddim:I bet you could find even more T2 on youTube if you wanted...

  1. Bartleby says I'm doing backwards - I'm visiting post of yours after reading about UK Garage. This is some really heavy beats. I understand why the "Heartbroken" is a crowd-pleaser: the deep bass combined the sensuous vocals, how can any one resist?
