At the end of last month, things looked hopeful for B.I.G.'s family who continue the struggle to find and prosecute his killers. For the first time in a decade it seemed that the criminals responsible for his murder and obstructing justice in the investigations to follow would have their day in court. This month everything changed when US District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper dismissed the wrongful death lawsuit, citing that the family did not file the claim in time. This is the same judge who in mid-November, ruled that there was sufficient evidence to implicate Suge Knight (head of Death Row Records), former LAPD cop Rafael Perez and David Mack, Perez's patrol partner, in the conspiracy to murder Biggie. Judge Cooper ruled to have all of them added to the wrongful death suit. Then, at the end of November, Judge Cooper ruled that 3 former L.A. detectives would also be added to the wrongful death suit for aiding the conspiracy. The trial was supposed to resume in February with all of these people being held responsible for the Biggie's murder in 1997. This week, the lawsuit was dismissed due to not being filed within the necessary time frame. Somehow I doubt that the family who took on Suge Knight and the L.A.P.D. got lazy at the last minute and delayed getting things turned in on time. The trial has been delayed indefinitely as a result.A previous report about November's proceedings:http://mog.com/mollifire/blog_post/127180New info via NME2Pac, Notorious BIG - "Runnin' (Dying to Live)"
