Eddie Vedder + John Legend Working On Howard Zinn Soundtrack

Posted about 1 year ago
Eddie Vedder has the soundtrack bug. He recently released the OST for Sean Penn's movie, Into The Wild, and news is breaking today that Vedder signed up to handle a new soundtrack. Vedder will work with RnB singer John Legend to organize musical accompaniment for a new documentary mini-series about America. The documentary is based on the incredible book, "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn and his companion book, co-authored by Anthony Arnove, "Voices of a People's History of the United States." Zinn is executive producing the documentary as well as appearing on camera to introduce characters and provide context. Billboard reported:
"It's going to be a great piece of entertainment but more importantly something people can watch and learn and remember how great this country has been and how individual people have changed the course of history," said executive producer Chris Moore. "It's going to make them think, laugh and cry and be proud to be American."
Many other big names are jumping on board the project as well, including Viggo Mortensen, Matt Damon, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Josh Brolin, David Strathairn and Kerry Washington. The mini-series is called "The People Speak" and will explore America's struggles with war, class, race and women's rights using music and readings. Eddie Vedder is a long-time fan of Howard Zinn and his work, so his involvement in this project comes as no surprise to Pearl Jam/Vedder fans.More info on Billboard. The beginnings of 3 conversations with Howard Zinn:Howard Zinn and Woody Harrelson In Conversation Part 1/6Howard Zinn "Just War" (part 1)Riz Khan Interviews Howard Zinn On Al Jazeera (1/3)

  2. jameson says Howard Zinn's books are a prerequisite in my house. Saw him come out onstage for a minute (albeit with some coaxing) at Pearl Jam's Voter's For Change tourstop in Boston in '04. The applause was deafening. I've been a fan ever since.... Very curious about the vids. can't wait to access them...
