Now here's an interesting story about record distribution. Beenie Man recorded an album in 2005 titled Concept of Life. The album was released exclusively for reggae and dancehall fans in France by Cornershop Records. The next year, it was repackaged for the Pacific Rim reggae market by Nocturne. Concept of Life will finally reach US and Caribbean turf for the first time next week. The album features collaborations with dancehall legends John Holt and U-Roy as well as Voicemail, Don Mafia and Razeir Brown! It's considered to be Beenie Man's best, yet most understated and underpromoted album to date. It has reportedly sold over 100,000 copies without being available to the US or Jamaican markets and it's landing at a time when Beenie Man is red hot in both countries. He was recently exposed to an all new American market thanks to his performance with Alicia Keys at the AMA event and remix of her #1 tune, "No One." Plus, he has made headlines from NYC to Jamaica for the last 2 months due to his involvement with Barbee and her brand new song/video "Paddy Cake" which premiered in NYC on Tuesday.
