Big Tings a gwaan in reggae music culture this week, so I have a few things to post today. First up, is virtual Shaggy! Yes, Mr. Bombastic will be meeting fans and answering questions in the popular virtual hang-out space, Second Life. It's to celebrate the release of his new single off of Intoxication: "Bonafide Girl." The single was released in mid-November, is currently #1 on the iTunes reggae chart and features longtime Shaggy collaborator, Rik Rok with his lovely singing voice. Scope the vid for "Bonafide Girl" here:If you'd like to reserve your spot at the party in Second Life, join the "If I Met Shaggy In Second Life, This Is What I'd Ask Him" Facebook group. The first 150 fans to do so will also receive a "goodie bag" when they arrive. According to a press release:
Big video screens will be set up at the party, projecting the videos from Intoxication until the singer arrives to meet fans and answer any questions they may have for Mr. Lover Man.Intoxication is definitely on my list of Best Albums Released in 2007. I am still bumping "Church Heathen" as if it were the first dancehall song I've ever heard. It may be my fave song of 2007, I haven't quite decided yet...
The first 150 fans to join the Facebook group will be guaranteed access to the event, which will take place in a secret location in Second Life in the New Year, where they'll be treated to a specially designed Second Life goodie bag. "We've had the best designers in the business create an exclusive goody for all attendees filled with limited edition t-shirts and gold jewellery," said Joy Ellington of reggae record label VP.
