New Songs From Upcoming Iron Shirt Album Win Over Russell Simmons
-
Artist:Iron Shirt

Track:Mad Again
Big things are happening in Klash City this year! I've been regularly posting news from the talented artists on Klash City Records and the new Dutty Artz label, especially when it concerns Iron Shirt: the artists formerly known individually as Matt Shadetek, 77Klash and Jah Dan.
One of my first posts ever on MOG was about their fresh new video for "Brooklyn Anthem" which was soon followed by a vinyl single. More recently, 77Klash stepped into the dancehall spotlight with "The Swarm" riddim he produced. This riddim has been voiced by reggae and dancehall stars Aidonia, Lutan Fyah, Jah Mason and Vybz Kartel, plus Shirt member Jahdan. These tunes have won 77Klash high respect in Jamaica where it spent most of the summer at the top of the charts. In Kingston, Tuff Gong distributes "The Swarm" 7" singles to the world. At the same time, Shadetek has been making big moves behind the scenes with Dutty Artz, a new label that Matt created in collaboration with DJ/Rupture. He's also been making BIG tunes, recording with some of the most highly respected singers in reggae music, like Tanya Stephens and Johnny Osbourne! Both of these amazing singjays recorded exclusive vocals for a Shadetek production and both songs are incredible! Live shows are a big part of the Klash City culture and all three Shirts have been actively performing. The three play together as Iron Shirt, while Jahdan continues to sing with Noble Society and 77Klash continues to play his banging live sets which incorporate some of the music made by the band as well as the reggae/dancehall hits. 77Klash recently performed at a benefit concert for Upliftment Jamaica where he debuted some new, unreleased Iron Shirt material. Shadetek reported on the evening:

Shadetek reported on the evening:Big up to 77Klash on his recent performance at the Upliftment Jamaica Charity event. Among the newly won believers in the audience was one Russel Simmons who told Klash he was feeling the set, pictured above along with Kelly Rae, Gary Foster and 77Klash (from L to R). One of the standout cuts from the set was a new tune by Klash and myself (Matt Shadetek) featuring Johnny Osborne, called Mad Again. Watch out for that on the forthcoming Iron Shirt street album, a collaborative release on Dutty Artz and Klash City Records.Dutty Artz has the lovely photo of Simmons and 77K mentioned, if you'd like to see it.As for the new Johnny Osbourne cut, you can listen to "Mad Again" right now on either Shadetek's or 77Klash's my$pace page. Johnny O's part was recorded last winter in Flatbush NY (I wonder if Liondub had anything to do with that side of things) but Matt and company have been saving the final tune for the upcoming debut Iron Shirt album. Matt says they decided to let it leak a little early because "the Iron Shirt street album is getting ready to come out"... Excellent news! But that's not all - 77Klash has thrown 2 more new tunes onto the fire this week! "Fight" features Jahdan and will be included on the new Iron Shirt album (tentatively calling it Code For The Streets but I'm not sure that's accurate). "Young Boy" with Trouble on the mic is listed simply as Unreleased. To be honest, I haven't heard of an mc named Trouble, but this tune is tight so that might change quickly!"Fight" "Young Boy" and "Mad Again" are all streaming on 77Klash's my$pace right now, along with his classic hits, "Brooklyn Anthem" (based around Courtney Melody's legendary "Bad Boy" (Dangerous) and the heavy heavy choon "Police In Helicopter," a modern remake of John Holt's 1983 reggae hit.http://www.myspace.com/mattshadetekhttp://www.myspace.com/2sevenklashhttp://www.myspace.com/klashcityrecords - you can listen to multiple versions of "The Swarm" herehttp://www.duttyartz.com/You can listen to the tune Matt Shadetek made with Tanya Stephens if you are willing to download his free mix mp3. It's called "Can't Breathe" and it has yet to be released elsewhere. Download the "More Fire More Bass" mix on Matt's previous website.
