Rumours circulating the internet last week that Beenie Man would join Alicia Keys on stage at the American Music Awards for her performance of "No One" failed to mention that she would also be joined by reggae legends Junior Reid plus Chaka Demus & Pliers! Keys stole the show with what started off as a soul song, but erupted into a dancehall party as the song shifted into a medley with Junior Reid singing his smash hit "One Blood," Chaka Demus and Pliers adding their biggest number, "Murder She Wrote" and Beenie Man, as promised, came out with his "Who Am I?" Most viewers may have no idea what hit them (but enuff did - the crowd roared when the airhorn introduced Junior Reid to the stage), but this 5 minute performance shows a deep love and respect for Jamaican music and a few of its biggest players! Loads of people keep uploading vids of the show, and they quickly get taken down by Dick Clark Productions, so this one probably won't last long either. But for every one they take down, 5 spring up in its place, so if this one is no longer available, just jump over to the tube and do a quick search:This is totally incredible. Jamaican music has never been so well represented at the AMA. BIG UPS to the lovely Alicia Keys for sharing her slot and making such a hot performance. Barbadian singer Rihanna and Jamaican singer Sean Kingston (who does not sing reggae, but is nonetheless from the island) both mentioned that they loved the performance during their speeches and were seen dancing in their seats as it took place. To elaborate on the magic that Keys created, here are the three songs that were added to Keys' "No One" by Junior Reid, Chaka Demus & Pliers, and Beenie Man:Chaka Demus & Pliers - "Murder She Wrote"Junior Reid - "One Blood"Beenie Man - "Who Am I?"
